ABSTRACT Purpose: to characterize and compare the reading fluency performance of public- private-school fifth-grade students. Methods: a total 44 elementary-school students both sexes, aged 10 11 years, participated in study were divided into Group I (GI, with 25 public-school students) II (GII, 19 private school students). They submitted Assessment Reading Fluency Performance (ADFLU). The analysis was based on number correct words per minute, incorrect time, speed. data made statistical tests, significance set at p-value ≤0.05, for inter- intragroup comparisons.
